Benefit fully from European harmonisation

CEN and CENELEC and their members have largely contributed to Europe's economic competitiveness. They help consolidate the European Single Market by lowering trade barriers for entry to the European Single Market, ensure the compatibility and interoperability of products, and enhance the performance of products and services. So the Single Market is a catalyst for economic growth.

We help to shape new markets, even in areas such as management tools and services, which will be of importance for future standardization work.

Through the official standardization process, one standard is identically implemented in 34 countries with the obligation to withdraw any conflicting national standard. Therefore, products and services meeting those standards can be offered in these 34 countries. A large part of the standards are also implemented by the Affiliate members, the standardization bodies of the EU neighbouring countries.
