News release - 2011

New CENELEC President Elect

Brussels, Belgium, 2011-06-22

The CENELEC General Assembly, held in Krakow early June 2011, appointed Mr Tore Bloch Trondvold as new CENELEC President for a three-year term starting January 2013, with a running in period of one year in 2012 as President Elect.

Mr Tore Bloch Trondvold will be taking over from Mr David Dossett, who has been leading CENELEC since November 2009. He will be the first national from a Nordic country and an EFTA country to hold this position, forty years after the creation of CENELEC on January 1, 1973 and ten years after his first election as Vice-President of our organisation in 2003.

A Chartered Engineer who graduated from the Norwegian Institute of Technology, Mr Tore Bloch Trondvold has held numerous positions within the Siemens system, thereby acquiring extensive experience in a broad spectrum of activities before becoming Managing Director of the NEK – the Norwegian Electrotechnical Committee – from 2003 to 2010. In this capacity, he was the Permanent Delegate of Norway to the CENELEC Technical Board. He is also a Member of the IEC Council Board. He is currently working for NEK as Project Leader for the IEC General Meeting that is to be held in Oslo in October 2012.

On behalf of our Director General and all CEN-CENELEC Management Centre staff, I would like to offer Mr Trondvold our most sincere congratulations and welcome him to his new position!
