During their April 2010 meeting, the CENELEC Technical Board (BT) decided to reactivate the CENELEC Technical Committee CLC TC 69X on electrical systems for road vehicles. The main tasks of the CLC TC 69X will be to prepare European standards related to electrical systems for electric road vehicles, particularly concerning standardization and safety of recharging infrastructure, which is a key issue for allowing a broad deployment of environmentally friendly electrically propelled vehicles. CLC TC 69X will coordinate the implementation of global electric vehicle standards drafted by IEC TC 69, with specific work adapted to the European situation where appropriate.
The Technical Committee will also focus on the execution of the requirements of EC Mandate M/468 concerning the charging of electric vehicles, working in close cooperation with the CEN-CENELEC Focus Group on ElectroMobility.
The new committee will first meet in Brussels in June.
