Trainings offered by CENELEC
For a better understanding of the standardization system, the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre provides education and training on European Standardization and the IT tools accessible to our members and experts.
Training on IT tools
Several CENELEC National Committees provide experts with trainings about various topics. We therefore invite you to contact your National Committee in order to check the available trainings.
Upon request, the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre provides training sessions for Technical Body Officers and members of CENELEC National Committees, either on-site in Brussels or via web conferences.
You can request training for several CENELEC Tools & Applications offered by CENELEC. The main point of contact for these trainings is the CENELEC IT Helpdesk, which is reachable via firstname.lastname@example.org.
What are the possible topics?
It is possible to organize a training session about the IEC-CENELEC Collaboration Tool, our e-working platform used to exchange documents, as well as the Expert Management System, the system used by National Committee Administrators to manage the contacts of national experts and assign their roles and/or permissions as required.
You can also ask for a guidance tour through the CENELEC website, including an explication of the CENELEC Work Programme.
And last but not least, CCMC also organizes trainings about the CCMC Web Conferencing service. We offer all CENELEC Technical Bodies (TC, SC, WG & Workshops), management or technical groups with a CENELEC secretariat the possibility to use the application "GoToMeeting" for web conferences. A request for web conferences training can be forwarded to email@example.com.
StandarDays is a two-day training session aimed at newcomers to European standardization, as well as those who would like to understand the CEN-CENELEC system better. StandarDays is organized twice a year and is free of charge.
StandarDays give a clear and structured overview of the European Standardization System, of the CEN & CENELEC products and processes, as well as the benefits of involvement to potential stakeholders.
StandarDays is a two-day information session consisting of an introductory plenary meeting, which explains the different aspects and tasks of CEN and CENELEC (day 1) and interactive, in-depth workshops (day 2). This structure gives participants the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the overall European Standardization System (day 1) and then take advantage of the CEN and CENELEC expertise to obtain further clarification and explanations (day 2).
StandarDays are aimed at all actors interested in the European standardization system: industry, consumers, administrations and government, European institutions, research centres, national standards institutes, academia etc.
Participation is free of charge. Since there is a limited number of places, registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis and will close when the maximum number is reached.
Registration forms to participate in the next StandarDays, will be available soon. For more information on this event, please contact the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre Communication Unit.
Technical Body Officers information session
Training Sessions for (new) Technical Body Officers are organised on an annual basis.
The training sessions give information on recent evolutions in the standardization work. Not only changes to e.g. procedures, BT decisions, way of working, new IT tools etc are brought forward. CCMC also takes the opportunity to invite guest speakers such as Commission representatives, representatives from National Standardization Bodies, from SMEs etc.
The one day training session takes place at the end of each year. Every second year, the training session is preceded by a cocktail reception, where we honour past Chairpersons and Secretaries that have served the CENELEC Community for a number of years.
Although the training session is mainly addressed to Technical Body Officers (Chairpersons and Secretaries), the event is also open to representatives from National Standardization Bodies, to the Commission and to other stakeholders who are interested in receiving an update on the CENELEC standardization activities.
Participation is free of charge.
Non-formal training sessions
CCMC also organises more individual training sessions for new Technical Body Officers. Either on an individual basis or in small groups, CCMC explains the basic elements of standardization work (what deliverables do we have, what procedures exist, what can CCMC do for you, what do we expect from you, ...). Persons interested in receiving such a training, please send a request by email.
