China is a powerful actor on the global economic scene, but sometimes difficult to understand.
This is why in 2006 the European Commission, EFTA and the three ESOs (CEN, CENELEC and ETSI) decided to sign a grant agreement and appoint a SESEC (Seconded European Standardization Expert in China) to shed some light on China standardization and Quality Infrastructure activities.
From 2006 to 2009 CENELEC managed the programme, and its success meant that the SESEC is now in place for a second 3-year term, until September 2012. CEN is managing the SESEC in this second phase.
The objectives are to increase visibility of the European standardization in China and promote the use of European and international standards in China, while understanding the Chinese systems and the actors involved.
A dedicated SESEC website was launched in December 2010. Among other useful information on the European Standardization System, the site also contains presentations and reports from SESEC. The Chinese version of the website will be available in the beginning of 2011.
