Brussels (18 December 2009), Honouring the important work carried out by CENELEC’s technical experts was the technical body reception at which six former Technical Committee chairmen and one Technical Committee secretary were awarded for their long-time dedication to the work of CENELEC. The event was held in the realms of the Technical Body Officer seminar at Bibliothèque Solvay on 15 December 2009 and was attended by some 50 European technical experts.

Mr Paul Galbraith – former Chairman of CENELEC Subcommittee 64B, Electrical installations and protection against electric shock – Protection against thermal effects

Mr Roland Talon – former Chairman of CENELEC Technical Committee 64 “Electric installations and protection against shock”

Mr Hans-Dieter Heining – former Chairman of CENELEC Technical Committee TC 22X “Power Electronics”

Said CENELEC’s President, David Dossett, “CENELEC owes its position as European Standardization Organisation responsible for the electrotechnical sector to the work of a dedicated number of people who have taken an interest and an active part in its technical work.  It is due to their dedication, knowledge and expertise that electrotechnical standards have helped shape the European Single market.”

The evening provided an opportunity to honour those who contribute tirelessly to the success of CENELEC and its position as European Standardization Organisation responsible for the electrotechnical sector.

The Technical Body Seminar, which took place the next day, focussed on exchange of information and providing information the latest developments in CENELEC’s standardization environment.  It included speeches from societal stakeholders such as ECOS and NORMAPME and addressed the many stakeholders gathered.
