Brussels (7 June 2010) – CENELEC General Assembly held on 3 June 2010 welcomed GEOSTM, the Georgian National Agency for Standards, Technical Regulations and Metrology, as a new Affiliate. 

Affiliation with CENELEC concerns the countries covered by the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) of the European Commission. It gives the possibility to develop a privileged relationship with these countries based on shared interest, harmonization of standardization approaches and practices, thus facilitating commercial exchanges with these regions and removing trade barriers.    

GEOSTM will join the 11 other affiliates of CENELEC that are composed of National Committees from Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Israel, Libya, Montenegro, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine.
