CENELEC & EICTA sign a Cooperation Agreement

CENELEC and EICTA sign a Cooperation Agreement

CENELEC, the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization and EICTA, the European Information, Communications and Consumer Electronics Technology Industry Association have signed today a Cooperation Agreement in the field of Electrotechnical Standardization.

The accord, signed by Elena Santiago, Director General of CENELEC and by Tony Graziano, Acting Director General of EICTA, contemplates direct collaboration and mutual contribution to each other’s work. Specifically, and according to CENELEC Guide 14, the agreement guarantees EICTA’s direct input in the standardization work undertaken by CENELEC in the ICT and Consumer Electronic fields.

The importance of the agreement is given by the fact that EICTA combines the expertise of 32 national ICT/CE associations representing 22 European countries with 46 direct company members. EICTA altogether represents more than 10.000 enterprises in Europe with more than 1,5 million employees. On the other hand, CENELEC provides EICTA with an official and consolidated standardization platform where to contribute and influence future normative projects.

As Mrs. Santiago declared during the ceremony “we are now corroborating an already long and productive relationship by increasing our common standardization links”.

Mr. Graziano thanked CENELEC for its particular interest in strengthening the bonds with EICTA and predicted a fruitful partnership between both organizations for the mutual benefit and that of the ICT/CE market in general.
