CENELEC Project
‘Roadmap for an integrated set of standards of SmartHouse
and relating systems to it’
Background:
The objective of this project proposal is to provide strategic direction and co-ordination for the standardisation activities of the ESOs (ETSI, CEN and CENELEC), together with the many other bodies that are active in this space, to reflect properly the growth of the SmartHouse and all the services, applications, systems and networks associated with it and to encourage future market growth. It is intended that all existing and any initiative or standardisation work in the area shall be identified and, in this converging market, be co-ordinated so that to the greatest extent existing and future work will deliver interoperable solutions for any “SmartHouse” service or application.
Proposed CENELEC SmartHouse Roadmap:
This proposal describes a project to co-ordinate and plan, as necessary, the implementation of a requisite, cohesive, integrated and interlocking set of standards (European, International, proprietary and implied) in the form of a SmartHouse Standardisation Roadmap (“The Roadmap”) that sets out the activities and co-ordination needed to ensure its implementation. The Roadmap will identify what is already available from whatever standardisation source, what is being developed, what additional work will be needed and what is redundant or duplicated. It will identify what needs to be achieved and by when. For the purposes of this proposal, the Roadmap will consist of a matrix of standardisation activities and referenced work by Fora, Consortia and that (being or needed to be) carried out by research projects under the EU Framework Programmes, that are clearly prioritised and sorted with regard to prerequisite activities as well as identfying specific areas where appropriate stakeholders may co-operate to identify and carry out future co-ordinated standards work.
